Drawer Success Is At Hand!

I've pretty much avoided drawers in my woodworking - and those few times I didn't avoid them, the results were less than good. Gaps, poor fits, drawers that don't close properly, even drawers that open themselves. Acceptable drawers have always eluded me.
Shara's "Ultimate Drawer Building Guide" is a 50 page manual, replete with detailed instructions and numerous photos. Shara presents discussions of design principles, material selection, and tools required, as well as detailed, step-by-step procedures for each aspect of adding one or more drawers to a cabinet.
Note that this guide does not include information on how to design and build a cabinet; Shara has another guide for that. Also, Shara only presents one method of drawer box construction - using pocket screws. No dovetails, no box joints, no fancy router-created lock-miters here. Simple, reliable, robust pocket screws. This is a guide for those wanting to make usable drawers, not for those wanting to become joinery gurus.
Now, if you watch a few hours of YouTube videos, you can probably glean all of the information in Shara's guide. If you find the right videos. And you'd have to take notes as well. Shara has created a complete, organized guide to making and installing drawers for you already.

So much more than I expected!

These plans are amazing, with their great number of diagrams, photos, and well-written accompanying text! I should not have been surprised at this thoroughness after having watched quite a few of Shara's woodworking videos. Don't see how I can go wrong with all of the guidance that these plans provide. I look forward to getting started on a project!

Great adaptable plans

I was building a 5 drawer cabinet for the back of my vehicle and needed some good plans to help me out. I was able to figure out what kind of cabinet I was making, and then using the drawer drawing put actual measurements on it and plan out my drawers. The only problem I encountered was the slides were thicker than what they were advertised to be so I had to buy a plane and take off a few thousands. Also, this whole project gave me a chance to improve my overall wood shop knowledge and figure out how to adapt my tools to do the job neatly.Next time I have a project I'll search the plans files and see if there is something I can use. They are well worth the money.
