I bought the plans and the wood so so I will build mine this weekend. The plans are easy to follow.
The plans are very detailed and thorough. They are presented in a logical fashion and are easy to follow. And they really address a need for organization in my little shop. Now I just need to figure out how to do the same thing with my tools and supplies…
Since it appeared I had as big a mess in my shop as Shara I decided I'd build her Scrap Wood Storage Cart. I needed to consolidate all the piles scattered throughout my shop into one place and also do a purge so the wood I had was at a manageable level. Rather than going through the pain of designing my own cart I purchased Shara's plans. I decided to follow both her advice on cutting one piece or section at a time to make sure the dimensions in the plan were not compromised by minor differences of wood thickness. To my surprise the only piece that was off by 1/8 inch was the last piece on the back and this was entirely due to the plywood being less than 3/4 of an inch. I could not believe how accurate her plans were and also how well thought out they were. I was concerned the pocket hole joinery might not be structurally strong enough but have found once assembled it is incredibly strong as one set of screws reinforce another. And finally, it was a lot of fun as I could hear Shara talking to me the whole way through...things like "don't sweat the small stuff" and "just go for it". I spent an enjoyable 4-5 hours on this project. I think being a bit more organized would reduce that, probably by a lot. I put 4 inch wheels on my cart and now have a clean shop with an organized wood supply. Did I mention this project was fun! I hope I've helped someone.
